Barry E. Hill, a Visiting Scholar at ELI since May 2015, has held various high-ranking private sector and government positions, including Senior Counsel for Environmental Governance at the Office of International and Tribal Affairs at the U.S. EPA and Director of the Office of Environmental Justice at the EPA. He has also been an Adjunct Professor of Law at Vermont Law School for 25 years and has authored or co-authored many articles on environmental law and policy, environmental justice, and sustainable development. Hill is the author of all 5 editions of the textbook/handbook, "Environmental Justice: Legal Theory and Practice." Hill has received several distinguished achievement awards in environmental justice and law and policy. He has lectured globally on environmental law and policy issues. Hill holds a B.A. in Political Science from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York, an M.A. in Political Science from Howard University, and a J.D. from Cornell Law School.
