In an effort to make our experts' information widely accessible, the Environmental Law Institute is now offering our Monthly Climate Change Briefings to the public without any fees.

Staying on top of the legal and policy developments in the climate change arena is no small task. As a special service to the public, the Environmental Law Institute provides a series of monthly webinars with national experts on climate law and policy to keep you up to date with short presentations about various sectors, along with time at the end for discussion between the panelists and to answer audience questions.

Topics to be addressed in this month's briefing:

  • COP30, including California's role at the summit
  • State-level developments in six states
  • EPA’s proposed repeal of greenhouse gas reporting regulations
  • Inclusive Louisiana v. St. James Parish
  • Daimler Truck North America v. CARB -- Enjoining CARB from implementing Clean Truck Partnership
  • Mulhern Gas Co. v. Mosley -- New York agrees to stay implementation of its ban on natural gas in new buildings, pending appeal
  • Atencio v. State -- New Mexico Supreme Court agrees to hear appeal from decision dismissing claims that approvals of oil and natural gas projects violate state constitution
  • Gas Transmission Northwest v. FERC -- Fifth Circuit rejects challenge to authorization of expansion of natural gas compressor stations
  • Leon v. ExxonMobil -- Federal district remands to state court a claim that fossil fuel companies are liable for the death of a woman who died in a heat wave.
  • People of New York v. JBS -- Major meat supplier settles suit brought by New York and agrees to pay $1 million to support climate-smart agriculture
  • Citizen Action of New York v. NY Department of Environmental Conservation -- Ordering state to issue regulations to achieve goals of New York Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act
